About the Artist:

Tyler paints almost strictly from life, sometimes requiring elaborate props and a lot of travel. He concerns himself with matters of composition, color, and brushwork. Figures, landscapes, and still lifes make up his wide range of subject choices. These paintings may be very small and intimate or grandiose in scale. The largest works are usually commissioned, like the recent creation of a 42 inch by 72 inch tack room scene é─˙Saddles Now Silent,é─¨ painted for the C.M. Russell Museum.
Timothy Carrol Tyler, born in Oklahoma, began his art career early in life. He received his first commission at age fourteen. Carrol traveled, studied, and lived across the western United States, all the while exploring and developing his painting technique. His years of academic study, along with the collegiate system, were bolstered by the visual delight of galleries and museums both here and abroad.
Many past artistic masters have influenced his artistic technique and philosophies. European artists have especially influenced Tyleré─˘s style as it has gone from careful photographic realism to a more painterly mature style. Listed among the artists he admires most are Edgar Degas, Cecilia Beaux, Armin Hansen, John S. Sargent, Juaqin Sorolla, and Anders Zorn. Among the philosophies to which Tyler ascribes are,
